Housing Tip of the Week: New Smoke Alarms For Residents Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

The Baltimore City Fire Department announced new smoke alarms for deaf or hard-of-hearing residents. These new smoke alarms shake your bed to alert you of excessive smoke or a fire. The previous smoke alarm had a flashlight; however, this is not helpful for residents who are deaf or hard of hearing, as they may be asleep and unable to see the flashlight.
