Many of you have reached out asking how you can be an ally to your immigrant neighbors. Here are a few ways to do that:

  • Make sure to have CASA's Hotline available at your fingertips. Call this number when you have a firsthand sighting/encounter with ICE (regardless of whether or not they're detaining someone). The number is 1-888-214-6016.

  • Know Your Rights. Our immigrant neighbors have rights. They may encounter ICE in different environments, including their workplace. Read more about how to handle an ICE encounter through CASA's Know Your Rights packet here.

  • Volunteer to observe the Immigration Court. The American Bar Association on Immigration is seeking volunteers to observe. Your observations will be collected and used for advocacy efforts to support the legal aid our immigrant neighbors need. Sign up here.

  • Take a training on how to be an ally bystander during an ICE encounter or on standby guardianship. Several organizations, including CASA, are hosting workshops for families on standby guardianship. There are also trainings for allies on what to do when they encounter ICE or see an ICE raid. If you are interested in taking a training, please fill out this interest form here.

This is a tough time for our immigrant neighbors. Make sure to check in on them. Any knowledge you gain, please share with them. Knowledge is power, and it will be the best way to help our immigrant community.
