Housing Tip of the Week: Call 311 for a Rental Unit Inspection

If you are a renter experiencing poor living conditions, please call 311 and ask for an inspection of your unit. The Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) inspection team will need to coordinate with you to access the unit, assess the conditions, and create possible citations. You can look up whether the property is properly licensed on the DHCD licensing portal here. It is a good idea to seek legal counsel from groups like Public Justice Center, Legal Aid, or others.
