Our office has reviewed the responses from our annual feedback survey. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share with us your thoughts on how we are doing. We are always looking to improve our performance. Based on your answers, our team's goals and our unfinished work from last year, we've come up with our goals for 2026. See them below.

Improving our internal constituent services operations. As always, our team is ready to serve you. We strive to provide exceptional constituent services by responding promptly and coming up with solutions that address the issue. We plan to onboard our office onto a new program that will allow us to manage and address constituent requests efficiently and effectively.

Maintaining strong communication. Knowledge is power, and it is important to us to continue communicating and educating constituents on the work our office is doing, as well as what's happening in the district and citywide. We will continue to attend community meetings and share information through our weekly e-newsletters, social media, the website, and our annual print newsletter.

Accountability and Transparency. It is important to us that we hold our agencies and partners accountable and hold them to a high standard when it comes to transparency. As servants of Baltimore City residents, we will continue to ask the tough questions to get to the bottom of why our government is not delivering high-quality services to its people and how we can improve our systems.

Housing

  • Continue working on legislation that will eliminate vacant and abandoned properties including In Rem 2 and Property Taxes for Vacant Lots/Structures.

  • Increasing affordable housing - this includes ensuring the Inclusionary Housing bill is implemented, increasing the production of affordable units in our city, and securing additional financing for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

  • Keeping residents in their homes - this includes continued work on tax sale reform so no one loses their homes to tax sale, increasing opportunities for home repair, and passing our legislation that strengthens and improves our rental licensing law.

  • Oversight: Work with the Housing and Community Development Committee on oversight of various work done by city agencies on housing-related issues, for instance, the permit office, older adult home repair programs, grants management, and more.

Traffic Calming. Every year, we work with the Department of Transportation on a list of priorities to be completed by the end of the calendar year. If there are any that are not completed, we will prioritize the following year. Our list includes speed bumps, crossing signals, crosswalks, traffic studies, traffic calming measures, and more. If you have a traffic calming issue, please submit a 311 request and send our office the confirmation number.

Clean and Green. We are reviving our Clean, Green District 14 campaign and initiative. We did not do this last year but we will this year! If you would like to join, please let us know here. So far, this initiative has partnered with Ednor Gardens Lakeside to place signs on the medians along The Alameda and Loch Raven which has reduced the illegal dumping on the medians. There is a lot more to do to make sure our streets and allies are clean. Let's come up with a strategy together.

Public Safety

  • We continue to support the Baltimore City Fire Department to ensure the safety of our residents. Preventing fires and working to reduce vacants makes sure that our firefighters are not overwhelmed and are safe as well.

  • We will continue working with the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement and BPD on key pockets of our communities that still need attention.

Protecting our vulnerable communities.

  • Our immigrant neighbors are under attack by the federal government. They are being kidnapped from the streets and separated from their families. We must protect them in any way we can. If you are interested in resources and training on how to be an ally to your immigrant neighbors, click here.

  • We continue to find ways to support our immigrant community by advocating for funding to provide resources and supporting state-level legislation that will protect their rights.

We will continue the work we started and we are ready to take on any new challenges that come our way. As always, we look forward to serving and we are grateful for the opportunity.
