In honor of Fair Housing Month we will be posting content every week about a different fair housing topic. Today's topic is on source of income discrimination. In 2020 Maryland passed the HOME Act. The HOME Act prohibits landlords from discriminating against tenants based on their source of income. This law protects people who have non-traditional sources of income such as a housing voucher or social security. Under this law landlords cannot publicize that they don't accept certain forms of income and cannot create separate rules for tenants with non-traditional sources of income.
