It is a very scary time right now for so many of our residents who are being affected by the republican federal government shutdown. Thousands of federal workers are being furloughed or laid off. SNAP and other critical programs to assist our residents have been shut down. Baltimore City is stepping up. Mayor Scott announced that there is over $4.6 million in aid for impacted residents. These dollars are assisting food programs such as the Maryland Food Bank and supporting our nonprofits that provide food assistance. In addition, funds are available for rental assistance and child care help. Visit www.baltimorecity.gov/shutdown for details on how to apply.
